Ironman World Championships 70.3     14-11-2009

Congratulations to the dynamic duo of Keith and Katie Sanders on conquering the World 70.3 Champs in Clearwater, Florida this past weekend!  Despite a last minute swim course change due to Hurricane Ida and the seasonable temperatures of Florida, Team Sanders wooped the field, boasting some fantastic bike splits.  Keith completed 90km in 2:12:57, only 14 minutes behind the fastest male pro and Katie finishing in 2:31:15, only 24 minutes behind the first female!  With the bike in the bag, Keith and Katie battled through the scorching temperatures to a 4:35:48 for Keith and a 5:08:51 for Katie.  Great results and well done on your races!

KentCross CountryLeague                14-11-2009

Come on the girls!!  It was an all girls field this weekend with Fiona Boxall and Jane Hinne flying the colours for the Tritons at Race 3 of Kent League in Swanley.  The rain couldn't stop the likes of Fiona, Jane, Jo Winn-Smith-racing for Cambridge Harriers or Andrea Jeffries-racing for Kent AC!  Andrea placed top ten in the vets, finishing 9th in her category, with Jane 17th and Fiona 25th.  Jo finished 19th in senior ladies category in a time of 25:55, nearly 4 minutes faster than her time in the first race off the series at Gillingham.  Result!!

 Gosport Half Marathon                    15-11-2009

You couldn't ask for a better day to race a half marathon.  Congratulations to Glenn Hatrick who completed the half marathon in Hampshire this past weekend in a time of 1:32:29!    Great result.

XTERRA World Championships                                   25-10-2009

Congratulations to Cedric Lasonde who is World Age Group Champion!!  This past weekend Cedric battled intense heat, swimming 1.5km, climbing 1400 ft of technical terrain over 32km bike course, and running over 12km of lava rock and sand finishing in amoungst the pro's as 2nd Brit home!  Cedric's time of 2:55:20 was 13 minutes faster than 2nd place in his AG and placed him ahead of many seasoned pro's including 3 time XTERRA World Champ Julie Dibens.  An incredible result and well done on your success!!

Brentwood Multi Mile Half Marathon                        25-10-2009

Adam Spiers was number 2 at the X Country Half Marathon this past weekend in Brentwood!  Adam blazed through the field in a time of 1:32:16, following close behind 1st place over a 21.1km multi terrain cross country course.  Result!!  

The OMM                                                                 25-10-2009

Another top place finish for Matthew Winn-Smith this weekend in Wales at the Original Mountain Marathon!!  Matt and his  teammate Martin Asp finished 1st in their Class over the two day event that is the OMM.  Carrying their own equiptment, and self navigating without the aid of GPS, day one, team 288 finished in 4:01:54 in 2nd place with only 6 min separating them from 1st place.  Day two saw the pair finish 25km in 4:03:29, and after the last check point pass the 2nd place team to take first place overall in a cumulative 8:05:23 over a total 51km in two days.  An excellent result once again, and so soon after an Ironman!  The true spirit of a tenacious competitor.  Well done!

Wilmington 10Km                                                     24-10-2009

Consisitency is the key!! Steve Walker completed the Wilmington 10Km in 40:29 today finishing 37th overall.  Congratulations on your result! 

Dulwich 10Km                                                           11-10-2009

Steve Walker, Katie Sanders and Tina Sajjandhar competed in the Dulwich 10Km on 11-10-2009.   Katie was back to winning form taking 3rd place for Senior ladies in 42:21 while Tina took a 2nd place finish for the Ladies Vets!!  Steve finished 23rd overall in a time of 40:08 off the back of an excellent season of racing and his first time representing GB at the ETU Long Course Triathlon.  Well done to you all!  

Kent Cross Country League

Somerhill School, Tonbridge                                                           24-10-2009

Glenn Hatrick was the lone Triton that competed at the 2nd race in the Kent Cross Country League.  Glenn finished 91st overall in a time of 44:48 for 10Km.  Jo Winn-Smith, racing for the Cambridge Harriers, finished in a time of 29:30 in her first 5km of the season.  Well done to you both for your achievement!

Capstone Park, Gillingham                                    03-10-2009

2 Tritons took part in the 1st of the Kent League X Country series at Capstone Park.  Freddie Sumption and Fiona Boxall finished 14th and 30th respectively out of a field of 70 starters.  Congratulations on a great start to the X Country season! 

Quelle Challenge Barcelona

Another milestone mark for Matt Winn-Smith! This past weekend, Matt competed in the debut of the Quelle Challenge Barcelona, covering 3.8km of swimming, 180km of cycling and 42.2km of running.  Despite incredibley hot temperatures, Matt set a new personal record and the second ever fastest Ironman split in the club, in a time of 9:29:50!! Not only did Matt set a new PB,  but he also finished 55th overall, and 5th in his age group.  Congratulations on your result and enjoy your post season rest!  The only question remaining-was he wearing the new superfast team kit?

Ride of the Falling Leaves

The Tritons were enmass this weekend at the Ride of the Falling Leaves.  15 Tritons took part in this race posting some amazing results, the highlight being a 3:40:55 time for 110km by Malcolm Jeffries.  Leading up the girls was Peppi Holder posting a 4:25:09.  Congratuations to all Tritons who took part and for those that didn't put your name on the list for next year!  Its a great race.

IT'S OFFICIAL!! The new Tritons Team kit is super fast!!!  Over the weekend, amid many tannoy comments about Tritons stunning perfomances and new kit, we amassed 5 medals and 9 top ten finishes!!!!  -  over only two races.

Milton Keynes Open Olympic Distance Triathlon                              September 20th 2009

It's officially a stunner!  Professional race kit=professional times!  Almost everyone who raced this weekend at MK set a new PB!  Snap! 

Keith Sanders led the way with a 6th place finish overall, and a 2nd place podium finish in AG in a time of 1:59:58!! Steve Walker was not far behind leading the vets in a time of 2:09:45 alongside Malcolm Jeffries who came 8th in AG, both with top ten performances in AG.

Katie Sanders set the ladies field alight with her second overall win of the season in 2:10:22 followed closely by Coralie Glaunes who finished 2nd lady in her AG and 3rd lady overall in a time of 2:18:13!!  Amazing day had by all and a great launch for our new club kit.  Well done to everyone!

Sevenoaks Triathlon                                                                

HERE COME THE VETS!!! There is no sign of Sir Weston slowing down anytime soon.  He has prooved his tenacity and dedication by consistent fast performances, and today was no exception.  Clive finished top male in his AG and 12th male overall in a time of 1:27:27!  Number 3 in the male vets was Steve Wand, who finished in a time of 1:37:51, followed by Simon Sayer who posted a 1:44:56. 

Sarah Stewart and Ed Simpson screamed over the rolling course in 6th and 9th positions respectively in AG.  Not to be outdone was Carl Botten who finished in a time of 1:51:17, spurred on by the sleek new Tritons kit and the fact that he is still reeling from becoming a dad!!  'LOOKING GOOD!!'

New Forest Middle Distance Triathlon

Congratulations to Steve Wood who competed in the New Forest this past weekend!  Steve finished 4th in his age group, narrowly missing out on 3rd place, by less than 10 seconds(!!) and placing 30th overall!  Well done on your efforts.   

London to Brighton Ultramarathon 

While the rest of the world sleeps, Glenn Hatrick dons his high vis kit and springs lightly over sacred burial grounds, through the paths of North Kent to the North Downs way in Surrey, trudges up Ditchlin Beacon and arrives exultant at the finish of 'the' extreme ultramarathon on the shores of Brighton.   Congratulations on your 12:35:05 time!-and all this before lunch.

Orca Classic Olympic Triathlon                                                   August 30th 2009

A win is a win, is a WIN!!  Mark Cook flew over the Dorney Lake Triathlon course to a 1st place AG win in a time of 2:17:56.  Congratulations on your result!

Tritons domination over the weekend!  Not only did we have 5 Tritons competing in the World Standard Distance Championships, but 4 of our fearless crew finished in the top 10 Brits in their AG, topping it off with Vern Thomas first Brit home in AG, but also 6th overall in his AG!! 

Joining Vern were Bern Henry, Freddie Sumption, Jamie Beecham and Rob Baker who all battled the intense heat in the Gold Coast.  All performed admirably boasting spectacular performances.

A few highlights:  Bern 5th GB Lady home in AG, Freddie 3rd Brit home in AG in a time of 2:23:25, Jamie 9th GB Male home in AG in 2:08:24 and Rob finishing in 2:16:18!! We all are so impressed and wish you warm (no pun intended) congratulations on your results!

London Duathlon                         Sept. 13th 2009

The impressive performances keep on rolling!  On Sunday Adam Spiers, Glenn Hatrick, Malcolm Davies and Peppi-Marie Holder completed 34km of racing on an undulating course in Richmond park.  Malcolm Davies screamed over the course to a 9th place finish overall and 1st in his AG while Adam an Glenn followed not far behind, finishing less than 20 seconds apart, Glenn finishing 1st in his AG!!  Peppi had a fantastic race and despite recent illness managed a time of 2:05:15!!  Well done all.

HSBC Triathlon                           Sept. 13th 2009

I'm sure we can all remember our first triathlon-the fear, excitment, nerves and elation of actually getting there, all competing for top spot!  On Sunday Mark Mahtonen competed his first Olympic tri in a spectacular 2:30:03 and became a member of an elite breed-the triathlete.  Well done on your achievement-I'm sure that those elusive 3 seconds won't be so far away next year....
