Suuuuupersonic!!! 18-04-2010
Steve Wood emptied the tank racing to a 3:07:15 finish at Brighton marathon this past weekend. In what can only be described as a phenomenal effort, Steve blitzed the first half of the course running 13 miles in 1:30:21, setting a new PB for himself by over 6 min!! Trying to hold onto that amazing form, Steve pushed himself right up to the end finishing less than two minutes behind the first lady to cross the line! A beautiful day on a fantastic course taking in the seafront views, and the town center. A very fast and mainly flat course, apart from a few undulations in the first few miles, so a great PB course for those of you wanting to give yourself some early season inspiration. Well done to you Steve!
Sevenoaks Triathlon
Its always a sign that the triathlon season has well and truely started-the annual Sevenoaks Tri! This weekend three Tritons, Simon Sayers, Simon Carter and Carl Botten braved the course, and started their tri season in earnest. Simon and Simon finished the race neck and neck, Simon S. edging out Simon C. by a mere 24 seconds in a time of 1:41:14 and finishing 16th in his age group. Not to be outdone was Carl Botten with a personal course record of 1:50:12, over a min faster than last year! Well done to you all.
Portsmouth Duathlon
Congratulations to Glenn Hatrick who did the Portsmouth Duathlon! Glenn finished his first duathlon of the year in 11th place in AG, in a time of 1:53:52. A definite pre season indicator of great races to come! Well done.
Hyde Park Sprint Triathlon
Sophia Sorgardt ran her first triathlon of the season in 1:07:30! A fantastic start to the season with a 3rd place finish in AG. Well done on your efforts!

The qualifiers just keep ooooon cominnnnnnng!! Neal O'Grady qualified by right, based on last seasons results, to compete in the 2010 European AND World Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships representing Ireland!! Fantastic news, and the 3rd Triton this year qualifying for European and World Championship teams.
Clapham Common 10Km 11-04-2010
.....And another PB in the bag for Peppi-Marie Holder!! Taking on the Clapham 10km to challenge last years best, Peppi commandeered the course in a time of 45:18,this is 4 minutes and 33 seconds faster than last year!
A course record for Peppi on what is a fairly flat and fast course over 2 laps. A nice 10km if you are looking for a fast race. Well done Bambi!!
Downland Spring Sportive 11-04-2010
Rob Baker flattened the field of riders over 110km course at the Downland Spring Sportive on the weekend. Rob was the first rider back finishing 4 min in front of the closest competitor in a time of 4 hours dead. A great show of form for the beginning of the season. Looks like the 'wheels are rolling' for some PB's this summer...... Well done!
A20 Path and Downs 28-03-2010
Bright and brisk sunny day with a very relaxed rolling start saw Louise Johnson to complete 21 miles of paths and roads in 3:19:04. Louise was the 16th lady over the line, encouraged by the shouts of the Auzzies!! (D'oh!! spotted again Martine!) The 21 mile course was not for the faint hearted sprawling across two massive hills and along the paths of the A20. The race boasted two distances, 21 and 13 miles, the second of which our Auzzie contingent was part of. Martine Nield was the 7th lady over the line with Simon Carter finishing alongside her, both 29 and 30th overall. Congratulations to all of our runners!

Tri-ing a New Distance..... 13-03-10
...with a £20, 000 prize purse for age groupers who wouldn't want to have a go?? Add to that 33° heat and some sunshine and you're away! The inaugural Abu Dhabi International Triathlon is a great race for Ironmen and would be Ironmen with two different race distances-1500m/3km swim, 100km/200km bike and 10km/20km run. On this course, you get the benefits of the testing ride, but don't end up walking like Bambi for days afterward from a marathon run like you would in an Ironman!
Mitchell Dann took on the short course challenge racing over 1500m swim, 100km bike, 10km run to a 3:56:52 finish. As it was a hotter than average morning in Abu Dhabi, over 28° by mid day, Mitch had to endure a non wet suit swim! The bike course encorporates part of the recent F1 Grand Prix circuit and as such boasts a flat and fast PB course. Mitch finished off the race with a 40:53 10km run past iconic sites such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Emirates Palace Hotel, bringing him home in 33rd place overall. A great result! Congratulations.
The Battle of Hastings 20-03-10
3 Tritons vs. Hastings Half Marathon. Simon Carter led the fray, storming across the finish line in a new PB of 1:41:57, followed closely by his better half Martine Neild, in a time of 1:47:56. Martine, still battling an injury, performed admirably finishing in the top quarter of the field. Not to be outdone, was the queen of cakes, Peppi-Marie Holder, burning down the course in a personal best by 10 seconds in 1:50:29! This is not a course for the faint hearted, boasting a plethora of rolling hills, steep inclines and wind off the seafront. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder- and there is much to be had on this course taking you through the old town of Hastings and along the seafront promenade. Whether its cakes or sure grit and determination that gets you through this race, its definitely one to add to the list, and as for our Tritons, I'm sure they'll be back next year?! Well done.
Reading Half Marathon 21-03-10
5 Tritons cruised through to glory over the 21.1km course that is the Reading Half, this past weekend. Dr. Malc Davies edged his way to a 1:20:55 season opener. Steve Walker and Steve Woods ran the majority of the race neck and neck, until 20km when Steve Walker edged out Steve Woods by mere seconds and knocked off nearly 4 minutes from his PB. Bruno Mahsoudi and Mark Cook both performed well, finishing in a time of 1:37:23 and 1:45:03 repectively. Some great results for so early in the season, a good indicator of what is yet to come. Well done!

Clumber Park National Duathlon Championships 06-03-10
The first of the qualifiers for the World Duathlon Champs in Edinburgh saw 3 Tritons turn up the heat to be the first to get on team GB. Windy conditions certainly didn't put off our trio, racing against an elite field (including ex Olympian James Cracknell!) in very cold and wet weather. Steve Walker, on the maiden voyage on his new steed the Argon, led the pack of Tritons finishing in a time of 2:09:47, knocking off over 2 minutes on the bike leg and cracking the 40 minute barrier on the 10 km run!! Bruno Mahsoudi was the 2nd Triton home in a time of 2:26:54, boasting the second fastest Triton 10 km run split in 43:47, finishing in 40th positon. Hot on Bruno's heels was Vernon Thomas, finishing 2nd in AG in a time of 2:28:35! Unfortunately, on this occasion, no qualifiers to report but an impressive race by all competing. Well done!
Milton Keynes Half Marathon 07-03-10
Congratulations to Diccon Driver who completed his first half marathon of the season in a time of 1:37:09. Diccon finished in the top quarter of the 3200 odd strong field. A fast, flat course that could well be a great place to pull a half marathon PB. Well done on your efforts!
Paris Half Marathon 07-03-10
This past weekend Coralie Glaunes, Fiona Boxall and Lucy Carrington raced the half marathon in Paris. Coralie was the first Triton home finishing just outside her goal time, in 1:40:00. (Technology can be a blessing and curse!) Despite the fact that her race did not go to plan she still ran a solid race, on form right to the end. Fiona had a great race, finishing behind Coralie in a time of 1:53:50 but due to chip failure, had no official time recorded. Lucy was the 3rd Triton to the finish in a time of 2:16:08. Well done the girls!

A great start to the 2010 race season with the results from the Snow and Rock are followed on by some more fantastic results starting with the Sussex Beacon Half Marathon this past weekend! Sussex Beacon Half Marathon and Regents Park 10km : 21-02-2010 Mitchell Dann made a serious start to his season with an impressive 1:24:43 in the Sussex Beacon Half in Brighton this past weekend. Mitch placed well within a field of 6064 starters, and smashed his half marathon PB finishing in the top 10% of the field!! Mitch managed this fab result off the back of a 38:13 10km in Regents Park on the 7th of February. Both races mark a great indicator of form and a successful race season to come. Congratulations on both races!! Sidcup 10 Mile : 14-02-2010 Team Cozza and Lozza made a start on 2010 with a 10 mile race in Sidcup on Valentines Day. Wet conditions and a bit of rain didn't stop Coralie Glaunes from having a really solid run of 1:13:57, with zip left to spare! Lorie Penner managed to keep up with Team Coz for most of the run and finished in 1:16:52. Again, another great start to the race season and a race well done!!! TCR Saucony 10km : 14-02-2010 On the same day, on a different course, over the 10km distance, Bruno Mahsoudi completed a 42:24 10km. Three fast laps round Sandown Park Race Course saw Bruno finishing in the top half of all the finishers. Great running! Nass Duathlon Race1 : 25-01-2010 ......and we have our first World Champs qualifier for 2010!!!! Glenn pulled his first 'Hat- trick' of the season by qualifying for the Irish World Age Group Duathlon Championship team in Edinburgh later on this year!! Glenn finished 27th overall and 3rd in his category in a time of 1:02:17. Not bad for a weekend's work, and this early in the season! Hell of Ashdown : 31-01-2010 An 8 strong team of cyclists streaked round the roads of Kent battling adverse conditions, icey roads and lethal weather at the Hell of Ashdown. The tritons-Baker, Mahsoudi, Walker, Woods, Winn-Smith, Weston, Hatrick and Holder held their own over 110km of terrain despite the horrific weather and showed that they are athletes of a fine caliber!! No fair weather cyclists here. Rob and Bruno placed well overall, finishing 11th and 16th in a field of talented cyclists. Well done to you all for hanging in and on! |
