Season Round Up

Its been a great year for the Tritons with over 10 GB qualifications over Sprint, Olympic and Duathlon distance events at European and World Championship events.  Our Ironman tally has swelled to 16 Tritons and Tritonettes, with many more athletes taking up the challenge of 70.3 or Middle Distance triathlon.  Our club has expanded in terms of numbers but as well as in variety of events with racers in X Terra, Adventure races, and Extreme triathlons.  The calibre of racing has been extroadinary and the prowess of our athletes next to none.

This year, our club championship at Hever Castle over the Sprint Distance was dominated by Freddie Sumption and Ed Simpson.  Freddie took the course record this year claiming 1st place overall lady in 1:09:05, beating second place lady by over 2 minutes!  Ed Simpson and Steve Walker were battling it out for male champ, after both having a bit of a moment in transition Ed gained advantage on the bike, pulling in the fastest bike split of the day in 37:25 finishing in 9th place overall!  Congrats to all who raced and to Debbie Coyle for her 6th place AG result and Louise Walker in her first triathlon back achieving a 9th place AG finish!  A special mention for Mini-Ted, AKA Tom Simpson who in his first ever triathlon placed in the top 10% of his AG!  Day 2 saw Sarah Dowling collect a 1st place AG trophy and 4th lady overall in the olympic distance race-spectacular!

Dambuster was one of the Olympic qualfiers this year

Middle Distance club champion star this year at Vitruvian Triathlon was taken by Simon Carter, a top result from start to finish with a 45 minute PB over the same course last year!  Sadly, no female champ this year but next year I think there will be a multitude of contenders!
